Aim of the Course:
We provide a comprehensive rescue qualification that includes First Aid & Basic Life Support (EFR) along with the DFA Pro (Diving First Aid Professional) course, covering Infant CPR, Child CPR, and Adult CPR. These courses train divers in the essential knowledge and skills needed to manage risks and effectively handle in-water problems and diving emergencies.
You will learn to:
- Recognize and manage stress in other divers.
- Rescue panicked divers.
- Rescue unresponsive divers both on the surface and at depth.
Divers will gain increased comfort and confidence by understanding how to recognize and prevent stress.
Duration:
Our training materials are designed so you can study the academics at your own pace when it’s convenient for you. Please inquire about online study options.
Study Timeline:
- Home Study: Estimated time to complete online theory/knowledge reviews is approximately 3 hours.
- In-Store Academic Session: About 3 hours, focusing on Rescue theory, followed by a comprehensive pool session.
- Pool Sessions: Two sessions, each lasting approximately 3 hours, to be booked during your theory day.
- First Aid & Basic Life Support (EFR): In-store theory session of about 3 hours, followed by practical application for approximately 2 hours, to be booked with you well in advance.
- DFA Pro (Diving First Aid Professional): In-store theory session of about 3 hours, followed by practical application with a one-to-one ratio for approximately 2 hours. This will also be booked with you well in advance.
Final evaluation will be determined after successful completion of the written exams, pool sessions, and practical assessments.
Prerequisites:
- Minimum age of 12 years for the PADI Rescue Diver course/SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course.
- Proof of Open Water Diver qualification or its equivalent.
- Proof of last logged dive (up-to-date logbook).
- A medical statement from a licensed physician stating that you are medically fit to scuba dive.
- Recent ID photo (required for training records).
- Full payment required before the commencement of the course.
Course Content:
Diving emergencies are rarely isolated events; they are often the result of multiple smaller issues that compound into a larger emergency. Alpha Dive Centre’s Rescue Diver course combines 6 courses into 1 comprehensive program:
- SSI Stress and Rescue or PADI Rescue Diver
- SSI React Right or PADI Emergency First Aid Responder (EFR)
- DFA Pro (Diving First Aid Professional) – includes Infant CPR, Child CPR, and Adult CPR.
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- O2 Provider
- Hazardous Marine Life Injuries (HMLI)
This program integrates the knowledge and skills from several training programs into a single course. After completing the skills and knowledge development portions, divers will apply everything in a Rescue scenario.
Equipment Requirements:
- Required: Your own basic snorkeling equipment, including snorkel, mask, fins, and booties. Gloves are recommended.
- Strongly Recommended: Your own wetsuit and weight system.
- Strongly Recommended: Your own hard gear set (BC, Regulator, Octo combo).
If you plan to purchase any equipment before the course, it is advised to seek advice from your instructor first. Graduates will be invited to join Alpha Dive Centre’s elite Rescue Group upon purchasing your own Rescue Diver Identification Vest.
