Divemaster The NAUI Dive Master rating is the highest NAUI leader ship - level certification with the exception of Instructor.
Duration:
- Estimated over 20 academic hours
- Estimated over 15 water hours
- Student may expect to spend time outside of class hours researching dive sites, organizing notes and generally preparing for dive briefings and activities.
Prerequisites for attending the course:
- Minimum 18 years old
- NAUI Master Scuba Diver and NAUI Rescue diver or equivalent.
- Documentation of diving experience with a minimum of 25 logged open water dives. Dives shall be varied in environment, depth and activates.
- Current certification or verified competency in CPR and First Aid is required for registration. Certification training shall include one-person adult CPR, infant / child CPR, two person CPR and the use of rescue breathing barrier devices, e.g. pocket mask, face shield.
- Verification of good physical condition as documented by a medical examination and unconditional approval for diving by a licensed physician within the preceding 12 months.
- Complete course application.
- Provide and be responsible for dive gear suitable for open water.
- Own all required texts and materials.
Aim of the course:
The course is designed to train experienced and knowledgeable divers to organize and conduct enjoyable open water dives for certified divers.
Sea dives:
A combination of diving and dive mastering for all open water dives is required involving on-site instruction:
- 1 night dive as a diver
- 1 navigation dive
- 4 dives assisting an instructor with non-certified divers in open water
- 1 dive assisting an instructor with non-certified divers in confined water
- Organise and conduct a shore dive for certified divers
- Organise and conduct a boat dive for certified divers
- Organise and conduct a night dive for certified divers
Qualifications of Graduates:
An active status NAUI Dive Master is qualified to organize and conduct dives for certified divers if the diving activities and locale approximate those in which the Dive Master was trained.
- An active status NAUI Dive Master is qualified to organize and conduct NAUI Recognition (such as International Diver) and Experience Programs (such as Stingray Experience) and award appropriate recognition materials to participants.
- An active status NAUI Dive Master is qualified to assist an active status NAUI Instructor in diving courses.
- If all other prerequisites are met, a current NAUI Dive Master is qualified to enter a NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC).
